Many people talk about leadership and how to lead others. Tons of books with lists and do’s and do not's have been written. Many of which are fantastic, don’t get me wrong. However, can one truly ever lead others if they never lead themselves? I think you’d only be fooling yourself if you answer yes.
Maybe you’ve heard the phrase, “You cannot lead someone past where you are yourself not willing to go” or some variation of that. So true!
Think about this for a minute. The Apostle Paul actually gives Timothy a list of things that Pastors and deacons should have or be before being considered. The majority of those lists involve leading oneself, having control over external and internal things. Only after some mastery of this can one truly start leading others.
John Maxwell, a leadership guru, has written many books on leadership. One of his first books: Developing the Leader Within You, is a great example on this concept and it’s obviously not a new one either.
Take away: Are you interested in leading others? Have you been in leadership positions and failed? Ask yourself, and be truthful, am I leading myself? How can you “preach” a concept and not be doing it yourself? Start with you.
“Be” the person you want first, then share it with others.

Doubts
Every now and then I have doubts. It could be a number of things, but sometimes it's: is Jesus REALLY who He claimed to be. Yeah, I know, that is a big doubt. Seriously though most people have these kinds of doubts. One thing I do to overcome this particular doubt is to put myself in Jesus' disciples shoes. I imagine that I am one of the Twelve. All of the miracles, all of the compassion, all of the love He had. Witnessing those things would have been ... amazing. These men wrote the majority of the New Testament and after putting myself in there shoes its easy to see that my doubt is foolish. Inspired by the Holy Spirit they wrote His story for us.
If you ever have doubts just put yourself in the shoes of a disciple and start to imagine all the things you would have seen. It's ... amazing.

What this blog is all about.
This blog is going to be about Truth. What is it? Can we know it? Is there such thing as truth. Is truth relative? I will attempt to answer these questions and more. I will probably try to add a new article every couple of weeks. I'm hoping they will be so thought provoking that you will need that long between each article. I'm looking forward to the adventure of discovering truth.
Grace and Peace to you.
